2021 Highlights: Week 13

…if I”m going to prescribe you a medicine of good words – I’m going to also have to say to you take it slowly, a spoonful at a time. This is sweet medicine, so savour it and really rest your mind in the beauty of language. It’s not that we don’t ever think about or confront violence or difficult things, and that sometimes we need the words that are adequate to that as well. But a great poet will bring words together in such a way that they bring you up short. And you suddenly have to think about something in a new way.

• March, as they say, went out like a lamb and April has yet to begin its showers so we’re enjoying the beautiful weather while it lasts.

• On our weekly walk to the library, Rose and I saw our friendly neighbourhood pig all ready for Easter, and stopped to do another Story Walk through the garden, put on by the library. (We did the story walk three times because Rose liked it so much. The third time we were accompanied by some friendly teenagers on lunch break.)

• Pearl came home looking like a bunny.

• And tomorrow we celebrate Easter Sunday. While it’s hard to believe we’re celebrating yet another Easter without being able to gather physically with our church, we know that as we sit down in front of our computer screen tomorrow, followers of Jesus around the world are celebrating that He is risen indeed. Easter is the very cornerstone of what we believe, a wholehearted celebration that death is not the end, that we are loved by God beyond all understanding, and that there is more for us.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay.”
